David M. Bartholomew
Mr. Bartholomew joined Palmer, Lombardi & Donohue LLP as “of Counsel” in July 2008. He brought more than 20 years of experience representing financial service firms and individuals in litigation, regulatory, compliance and employment matters.
Most recently, Mr. Bartholomew spent 6 years with UBS in Los Angeles and Zurich Switzerland. As Executive Director, he advised senior management on risks relating to regulatory strategy, litigation, hedge funds, corporate governance, conflicts of interest and investment research. He drafted regulatory, supervision and risk policies for the firm’s businesses: wealth management, asset management and investment banking. He conducted significant internal investigations, both in the United States and in Europe. He held Series 7 and Series 9/10 securities licenses.
Mr. Bartholomew previously served as outside counsel for financial services firms, including 10 years as a partner with a Long Beach law firm. He tried more than 20 customer and employment cases for financial services defendants as “first chair” counsel with a success rate of almost 90%. He tried cases in SRO arbitrations and the State and Federal courts. He successfully represented firms and individuals in SEC, NYSE and NASD regulatory enforcement actions. He handled Class Action and MDL litigation as defense counsel.
Mr. Bartholomew graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT in 1981 and from the University of Southern California Law Center in Los Angeles, CA in 1986. He is admitted to all State and Federal courts in California and is a member of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Legal & Compliance Division. He published several articles on Securities Regulation and the Internet. He served on nonprofit boards in leadership positions, both in the Palos Verdes community where he lives and nationally.
